Turns out i Tunes lost the path between the playlists and my music folder location on my computer. If you go to the i Tunes "Library" box on the left, select "Music" then go to the main screen and look at all of your songs in the "Songs" format. However, if you use Miximum to play your songs, then you can enjoy live updating.A smart playlist is one that updates itself based on certain criteria.
The only problem I’ve seen is that if you have the playlist open while it’s being updated (when a song finishes playing) Music will crash and the phone will respring. I've had a smart playlist since Apple Music was launched which adds tracks that I've Loved to a playlist.
However, for a long time there has been a bug related to i Cloud Music Library where the play count would not update until about 24 hours after playback.
So a smart playlist using a rule such as 0 plays would momentarily remove a played track from the playlist and then put it straight back based on the metadata from the cloud.
I have a smart playlist in i Tunes that has a rule so only songs with 0 plays are in it.
Now in i Tunes, as I listen to the songs they disappear from the playlist, while on the i Phone they did not.
